Coffee and Cake

Whilst you're here, relax with a drink next to our cosy wood burner and enjoy a bowl of soup or some award winning home baking, all freshly prepared here at Ellishadder.

In warmer weather why not enjoy the garden and the stunning views of Trotternish - absolute bliss on a warm, sunny day!

The selection of mouthwatering cakes is complemented with a range of speciality coffees, teas and soft drinks. All our tea, coffee, sugar and hot chocolate is fairly traded and many of our ingredients and drinks are organic.

In addition to our lovely cakes, we have tasty home-made soup, served with home-made seeded bread or Highland crackers.

In season, we enjoy using salads, herbs, edible flowers, fruit and vegetables from our garden - food doesn't get much fresher than that! We don't use any pesticides or artificial fertilisers - our hens and ducks see to that! When it isn't possible to use produce from the garden, local producers and suppliers are used. We love to use the Skye and Lochalsh Food Link van whenever possible, to support local producers, to benefit the local economy, reduce food miles and to provide fresh, in season food with a local provenance - perfect!

We have a selection of gluten free and dairy free dishes available - however, please be aware that although we try hard to prevent cross-contamination, we can't guarantee it. Please advise us if you need any information on the ingredients.

We welcome dogs - even when they're wet and muddy after having a nice walk! There's always a bowl of water for them and a biscuit or two! However, please keep your dog on a lead as we have free range hens, ducks and cats and our lovely Herdwick sheep are on the croft. Thank you!

Please note:

  • there is limited seating available for coffee and cakes and therefore, we cannot accommodate large groups - sorry!

  • Maggie could well be chatting to visitors about the weaving process - it could mean you waiting a few minutes longer to be served.

  • in summer the tearoom is open Monday - Thursday and on Fridays the gallery/studio is open by appointment only.
